I am very pleased to be quoted in the latest ZDF heute article about AI-powered chatbots in China. The development of DeepSeek, a Chinese AI model, shows how generative AI is regulated and shaped in authoritarian systems. But not only there.
We urgently need to understand that AI is not just based on trained data โ it reflects worldviews. This means that artificial intelligence does not provide neutral information, but is influenced by ideological and cultural biases. Thatโs why media literacy is more important than ever โ to understand how AI generates answers and the mechanisms behind it.
My quote in the article highlights this issue: We should not have to choose only between U.S. and Chinese AI models. Europe needs its own AI solutions.
